Eastern District traffic stop leads to loaded handgun arrest in Glen Burnie

Glen Burnie, MD – A routine drive along a busy Glen Burnie corridor ended in handcuffs when a traffic stop revealed a loaded handgun inside a black Jeep, setting off an arrest that unfolded in early evening hours near a major county intersection.

The stop occurred Friday around 5:05 p.m. near Crain Highway and Hospital Drive after an equipment violation drew attention to the vehicle. As the encounter continued, the driver was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm Ruger handgun.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene and charged. No injuries were reported, and no additional suspects were involved.

The arrest took place in Anne Arundel County’s Eastern District.

The individual arrested was identified as Corey Coates, a 31-year-old man from Elkridge.
