Baltimore, MD – A 13-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with multiple armed carjackings and a robbery that occurred over a three-day span in late July, with investigators linking him to the crimes through GPS data from his court-ordered ankle monitor.
The incidents began on July 26 at approximately 6:44 a.m., when Southern District officers responded to 2510 Ashton Street for an attempted carjacking. The victim told police she was in the 2300 block of Guilford Street when two male juveniles exited a black Hyundai, approached her, entered her vehicle, and struck her multiple times with an unknown black object. She was able to reverse her car, forcing the suspects to flee in the Hyundai.
The next morning, July 27, at 5:31 a.m., Eastern District officers were called to the 100 block of East Lanvale Street for a carjacking. The victim reported that a dark sedan blocked her vehicle before three suspects exited, demanded her keys, wallet, and iPhone, and drove off in her car while another vehicle followed.
Later that day, Western District officers responded to the 1400 block of Madison Avenue for an armed robbery report. The victim said the incident occurred earlier that morning, around 5:00 a.m., in the 200 block of East 24th Street. Three males exited a black sedan, displayed a handgun, and took her purse containing cash and keys.
On July 28, investigators located both the suspect vehicle and the stolen car in the 500 block of Highland Avenue. Detectives identified the 13-year-old suspect using GPS data from his ankle monitor, which placed him at each of the three incidents. He was taken into custody and transported to the juvenile booking intake facility, charged with carjacking, robbery, assault, and other related offenses.
Police say the teen has 18 prior felony arrests in Baltimore City. The investigation remains active as authorities work to identify additional suspects.
