14-year-old charged in gunpoint robbery of DC business

WASHINGTON, DC — A 14-year-old boy was arrested after allegedly robbing a business at gunpoint in Northwest DC, officials said.

The incident occurred Tuesday at approximately 8:17 p.m. when the suspect entered a business in the 1700 block of Columbia Road, Northwest. He brandished a handgun and demanded money before stealing cash from the register and fleeing the scene.

Detectives identified the suspect during their investigation, leading to his arrest. The teenager, a Northwest DC resident, has been charged with robbery.

Authorities have not released further details about the suspect’s identity due to his age.
