14-Year-Old Terrozing New Yorkers in Moped Theft Charged, Adult Accomplice Sought

NEW YORK, NY – A 25-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint on Jerome Avenue by two assailants on a moped who subsequently fired multiple gunshots before fleeing the scene. A week after the incident, a 14-year-old male has been taken into custody in connection with the crime, police said.

On October 19, just after 2:37 a.m., the victim was confronted by two males on a moped outside 3600 Jerome Avenue.

The assailants, brandishing a firearm, demanded and took approximately $2,600 worth of the victim’s belongings, including jewelry and a cellphone.

After the theft, the attackers discharged their weapon several times. There were no injuries reported as they escaped southbound on Jerome Avenue.

Investigations led to the arrest of a 14-year-old male on October 26, within the 52 Precinct’s jurisdiction. The young suspect faces charges of robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and menacing.
