15-Year-Old South Carolina Boy Arrested for Robbery and Murder in Virginia

WOODBRIDGE, VA – A felony murder investigation has led to the arrest of a 15-year-old male juvenile from Gaffney, SC, on charges connected to the death of a 17-year-old during a robbery attempt.

The incident unfolded on June 18 at Misty Ridge Apartments on Lost Canyon Ct, where detectives determined the deceased and at least one other accomplice planned to rob an 18-year-old man of marijuana and money. The suspects, originating from South Carolina, were familiar with the targeted residence.

On the night of the attempted robbery, after failing to get a response at the door, the deceased broke a window to enter the apartment. The resident, who was asleep, responded by firing his handgun, fatally injuring the intruder. The 15-year-old accused fled the scene and discharged a firearm towards the complex, though no further injuries were reported.

Following an investigation aided by multiple law enforcement agencies, including Virginia State Police and police departments from Fredericksburg, VA, and Gaffney, SC, the juvenile was apprehended without incident in the Fredericksburg area. Two firearms were recovered during the arrest.

The juvenile now faces charges of felony murder, burglary with intent to commit a felony, and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He is currently held at a Juvenile Detention Center with a court date pending. The investigation is ongoing.
