GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division are investigating the fatal shooting of an 18-year-old man from Silver Spring. The victim, identified as Christian Ortiz, was found dead Tuesday night at Seek Lane Park.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting near Barron Street and Domer Avenue at approximately 9:46 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Ortiz in the park’s playground area with a gunshot wound. Despite attempts at life-saving measures by police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services, Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to identify suspects or motives. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
