LANDOVER, MD – A 19-year-old woman was shot after a fight broke out at an illegal car meetup in Landover early Sunday, sending her to the hospital and leaving Prince George’s County detectives searching for whoever opened fire.
Prince George’s County Police officers were dispatched to the 3200 block of Hubbard Road at approximately 2:30 a.m. for a reported shooting.
Officers learned the 19-year-old woman had suffered a gunshot wound.
She was transported to a hospital with injuries described by police as non-life-threatening.
Investigators determined the victim had been attending an illegal car meetup when the shooting occurred.
A preliminary investigation indicates a fight broke out at the gathering and resulted in the shooting, according to police.
The department did not provide details about what sparked the fight or indicate whether the victim was involved in the altercation.
Detectives with the Gun Crimes Unit are working to identify the suspect or suspects.
