Two charged for murder of Skylar Shane Townsend in Green Cove

GREEN COVE, FL – Two men have been charged with the shooting death of 18-year-old Skylar Shane Townsend that occurred on November 17th.  Yesterday, the Green Cove Police Department obtained arrest warrants for Kieshawn Ray Capri Smith (1/8/1997) and Daveion Breshod Austin (5/4/2000), for the charge of Armed Robbery in connection with the shooting death which occurred on 11/17/2020.  Both Smith and Austin were arrested pursuant to the warrants shortly after. The investigation into the incident is still active.
On November 17th, at approximately 6:00 PM, GCSPD officers were dispatched to the 1100 –block of Center Street in reference to a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered two males with gunshot wounds on the road. Both males were transported to the Orange Park Medical Center. While at the hospital, one of the males (possibly a juvenile) was pronounced dead. The second victim (adult) has since been released from surgery.
While at the hospital investigating, Green Cove Springs Police Department detectives made contact with a third male who arrived at the hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. This third male is believed to be connected to the incident which occurred on Center Street.
