Man struck, killed walking across Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ – On Sunday, December 6, 2020 the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 8:01 PM on the Black Horse Pike in the area of Palermo Ave in the West Atlantic City section of the Township.  A 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, operated by Jesse Oliver-Logan, 26 years of age from Egg Harbor Township was traveling westbound on the Black Horse Pike. A male subject, identified as Pedro Silva, 44 years of age, was walking across the Black Horse Pike near the intersection of Palermo Ave. While crossing the Black Horse Pike, Mr. Silva walked directly into the lane of travel and was struck by the vehicle operated by Mr. Oliver-Logan in the outside lane of travel.
Mr. Silva sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Officer Nick Poletis, Officer Ed Stearns and Sergeant Larry Graham of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Traffic Safety Unit are investigating this crash. Traffic was detoured for approximately 5 hours during the investigation.
