Two teens shot in Columbus gun deal gone bad

COLUMBUS, OH – 17-year-old and 16-year-old Columbus teenagers suffered gunshot wounds after their illegal gun sale on Ogden Avenue went south.  Last night, Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 10:38 pm, Columbus Police officers were called to the area of 62 S. Ogden Ave. on a report of shots fired.

Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male both suffering from gunshot wounds. The 16-year-old was taken to to Nationwide a Children’s Hospital in critical condition. The 17-year-old was taken to Grant Medical Center in stable condition.  The investigation revealed that the 16-year-old was attempting to purchase a firearm from the 17-year-old when the 17-year-old attempted to rob the 16-year-old, and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, shots were fired injuring both parties. Due to the severity of the 16 year old’s injuries CPD’s Homicide Unit is investigating this incident. Anyone with info is asked to contact CPD’s Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
