Gunshots in Tacoma apartment complex lead officers to huge stash of cocaine, pills, guns

TACOMA, WA –  Gunshots rang out in a Tacoma apartment complex, leading police to respond.  Upon their arrival, officers were lead to an apartment that was being used to deal drugs in the area.

According to police, at 9:11 p.m. on Friday, December 11, 2020, our deputies responded to 911 calls from two different residents who reported that bullets had gone through the walls of their apartments. The apartment complex is located along the 14100 block of Canyon Rd. near the South Hill area.

When deputies arrived on the scene they began to search for any possible victims or suspects in the shooting; they contacted several residents who reported hearing arguing coming from a nearby unit just prior to the shot being fired. As deputies approached the unit, they observed a male standing nearby who began to walk behind the building; deputies contacted the male and determined that he lived in the unit where the arguing was heard.


The male was found in possession of $6000 in cash.

Deputies went to the apartment and observed a bullet hole over the doorway. As they surrounded the apartment and knocked on the front door repeatedly, a second male walked out of the back door and was stopped by deputies; he was found to be in possession of a pistol, which was tucked in his waistline. A female also exited the apartment and was contacted by deputies.

“Our deputies entered the apartment to perform a security sweep for any shooting victims; in plain view, the deputies observed multiple firearms and a large quantity of narcotics. Deputies cleared the apartment and applied for a search warrant, and a narcotics K9 was requested to the scene to assist in the search,” police said. ” ollowing a detailed search of the apartment, our deputies recovered 261 grams of cocaine, 631 grams of Xanax pills, drug scales and baggies, 8 magazines, an assortment of ammunition, and four firearms. One of the firearms was reported stolen only ten days earlier in the City of Tacoma, and another was reported stolen in late 2019 in the City of Lakewood.”

A 21-year-old male suspect and a 22-year-old male suspect were booked into the Pierce County Jail on Aiming/Discharging Firearm, Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Reckless Endangerment, and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.  Police did not release the names of the suspects.
