OJ Simpson, a legendary NFL running back who was accused and acquitted for the murder of his wife Nicole Brown Simpson in 1994 today shared a picture on Twitter of himself getting a COVID-19 shot. That post drew sharp criticism from the Twitterverse.
“Eligibility list for the covid vaccine: healthcare workers, first responders, people who got away with murder, individuals 75+,” one commenter posted.
“Who had “OJ Simpson being stabbed by a white woman” on their 2021 bingo card?” another response read.
“So OJ killed 2 people and can get a shot….but I’m a front line worker and can’t get one?” asked another.
The photo also opened old wounds for many who remember the murder trial. Simpson met Nicole Brown in 1977 when she was a waitress and the two began dating even though he was still married and 31 at the time.
Throughout their marriage, Simpson physically abused Nicole and police were called to their home on several occasions, including once arrest for spousal abuse which he pleaded no contest to in 1989. In 1992 Brown filed for divorce.
In 1993, Brown told police officers, “He gets a very animalistic look in him,” Brown stated. “All his veins pop out, his eyes are black and just black, I mean cold, like an animal. I mean very, very weird. And when I see it, it just scares me.”
She was found dead in her Brentwood home on June 12, 1994, stabbed to death.
