Man shot dead while driving his car along Chicago’s I-90

Chicago, IL – Illinois State Police (ISP) officials are investigating a shooting, which occurred on the ramp from Division Street to Interstate 90 southbound, at approximately 8:28 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021.

ISP officers responded to the above location for a reported expressway shooting. Upon their arrival they located one victim, 37-year-old male of Chicago, Illinois. Preliminary reports indicate the victim was traveling on the ramp from Division Street to Interstate 90 southbound when an unknown vehicle began shooting causing the victim to crash. The victim vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, traveled up the embankment and struck a traffic control warning device. The victim suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased on scene.

At approximately 8:52 p.m., the ramp from Division to Interstate 90 southbound was closed for the investigation. At approximately 2:40 a.m., the ramp was opened. The events surrounding the shooting remain under investigation and no further information is available at this time.


Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has any knowledge of the shooting is asked to contact the ISP at 847-294-4400. Callers can remain anonymous.
The public is reminded that all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
