Andres Lopez of Ashburn was having a bad week. He said things were breaking around the house, appliances not working, that sort of thing. However, his week brightened up considerably when he scratched a Blazing Hot Crossword 5X ticket from the Virginia Lottery and discovered he’d won the game’s $100,000 top prize.
He bought his winning ticket at Giant Food, 43330 Junction Plaza in Ashburn.
He said when he showed the winning ticket to his wife, she was more excited than he was.
Blazing Hot Crossword 5X is one of dozens of Scratchers available from the Virginia Lottery. The game features prizes ranging from $5 all the way up to $100,000. The chances of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,224,000. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 3.83.
Mr. Lopez claimed the second of three top prizes in this game, which means one more remains unclaimed. He said he plans to buy a new car for his wife.
