VERO BEACH, FL – A 17-year-old Fellsmere teen faces a second-degree attempted murder charge stemming from a shooting that occurred in late March at the Sonrise Villas apartment complex.

The victim, who had been in a medically-induced coma, eventually woke up and was able to provide a suspect description and ultimately picked his assailant out of a 6-person line up.

The suspect has been identified as Edgar Magdaleno, who is being held at the County Jail.

On March 22, we responded to the apartment complex after receiving a report that a male had been shot. The victim was taken later to Holmes Regional Medical Center. Upon waking from the coma, the victim told us he was outside of his building when he was approached by two males. They asked him a question and then punched him in the head.

After being struck, the victim took off running. During his attempted escape, he tripped and that is when he was shot by Magdaleno, according to a witness.Magdaleno was transferred to the Department of Youth Services.
