Okaloosa Island, FL – A Texas visitor is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after he pulled a gun and pointed it at another person during a road rage incident on Okaloosa Island Sunday night.

The victim says 31-year old Billy Steward Jr. was in a white Dodge Charger trying to make a left-hand turn from Highway 98 eastbound onto Santa Rosa Boulevard where no left turn is allowed. The victim honked his horn and went into the right-hand lane to try to get around the car. Both vehicles were then traveling eastbound when Steward, who was a passenger in the backseat of the Charger, got a gun, cocked it, and pointed it at the victim.

The victim slammed on his brakes in fear. The Charger made a U-turn and headed back towards Fort Walton Beach. An FWB Police Department officer spotted it on Hollywood Boulevard. After a traffic stop, the driver said there was a gun in the glove box and the officer found a 9mm handgun with a black muzzle.

The victim and a witness both positively identified Steward as the person pointing the weapon.

Our thanks to the Fort Walton Beach Police Department for their assistance.
