Logan Hollar, 22, is a student at Rutgers University who is unvaccinated but attending his classes remotely. Now, the university has banned him from all of his classes because he’s unvaccinated. Rutgers requires all students to be vaccinated this year, but Hollar said he didn’t vaccine because he intended to take classes remotely from his Sandyston home, some 70 miles from the New Brunswick campus.
Then, the university locked him out of all of his school accounts and told he must vaccinate even though he has no contact with any other students at the college. He applied for an exemption from the mask mandate, but that decision could be weeks away and he has already missed the first week of class.
“I’ll probably have to transfer to a different university,” Hollar told NJ.com. “I find it concerning for the vaccine to be pushed by the university rather than my doctor.”
Rutgers University, in a statement, noted that it gave all students ‘comprehensive information and direction’ regarding their vaccine requirements, adding that waivers for students like Hollar can take up to four weeks to approve.
