FAIR LAWN, NJ – The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has arrested Fair Lawn High School fine arts teacher Christine E. Knudsen for a sexual assault she is alleged to have committed against a student three years ago.

Knudsen has been charged with second-degree sexual assault by a supervisor of a person under age 16,and two counts of second-degree endangering by a caretaker.

The 44-year-old is being held at the Bergen County Jail pending a pre-trial hearing.

Schools Superintendent Nicholas Norcia said the charges stem from actions “several years ago” and said there are no charges involving recent incidents against students.

“We do not understand there to be any allegations of current misconduct, and law enforcement has made clear that it does not consider any current students at risk of harm, in any way,” he said in a letter to parents at the school.
