Man charged for shooting in Teaneck

TEANECK, NJ – Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JAIRROD SHANNON (DOB: 5/07/2001; single; unemployed) of 1434 Queen Anne Road, Apartment 2, Teaneck, NJ on charges of murder, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault, and hindering apprehension. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Teaneck Police Department under the direction of Chief Glenn M. O’Reilly.

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at approximately 3:49 p.m., the Teaneck Police Department received a 911 call reporting a male with a gunshot wound located at Ammann Park, 303 Fort Lee Road, Teaneck, NJ. Officers responded and located 20-year-old Maximillian Reyes of Teaneck with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. He was transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.

An investigation conducted by detectives from the Teaneck Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit revealed that JAIRROD SHANNON shot Maximillian Reyes.


On Wednesday, October 27, 2021, JAIRROD SHANNON was arrested and charged with one count of first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1); one count of first-degree murder, N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(2); one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1); one count of second-degree unlawful possession of an assault firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5(f); one count of third-degree hindering his own apprehension, N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3b(1); and one count of fourth-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm, N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(4). He was remanded to the Passaic County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, NJ.
