Three dead including police officer as cops ambushed responding to driveby shooting

REX, GA – Three people are dead including a Clayton County Police officer after a woman was gunned down by a driveby shooter. Responding police officers were ambushed by gunfire.

On November 30, 2021 at 8:40 p.m., Clayton County Police Department received a call advising there was a drive-by shooting near the 3600 block of Jervis Court, Rex, GA. A secondary call advised there was a female lying motionless in the yard which changed the call to a shooting. A third call came in advising a juvenile male was shot at a secondary location.

By this time, officers had arrived on scene trying to locate the juvenile and render aid to the female victim in the front yard. While trying to locate the juvenile victim and render aid to the female victim, officers received fire from an unknown location.


At this time, three victims are deceased one of which is Clayton County Field Training Officer Henry Laxson. We have one juvenile victim in critical, but stable condition. A second Clayton County Police Officer Alex Chandler was shot in the hand. The suspect was killed during the exchange of gunfire with law enforcement.

The investigation is ongoing. At this time, we are not releasing the names of the victims due to the next-of-kin not being notified.
