Teen shot and killed in Jersey City, killer still at large, police

JERSEY CITY, NJ – On Thursday, December 16, 2021, shortly after 11:45 a.m., the Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of 600 Communipaw Avenue in Jersey City on a report of shots fired. The responding police officers found an unresponsive male victim at that location with an apparent gunshot wound.

The injured male, later identified as Pedro Rodriguez, age 16, of Jersey City, was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 12:00 p.m. The cause and manner of death are pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department. No arrests have been made at this time.
