Silver Spring teen wakes up to home intruder in her bed

SILVER SPRING, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID) are investigating a residential burglary in Silver Spring. Detectives have released a sketch of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

On January 14, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 500 block of Thayer Avenue for the report of a burglary that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that a juvenile victim awoke to an unknown male suspect lying in her bed. The victim told the suspect to get out of her bed. The suspect then got out of the bed and exited the victim’s room. Detectives determined that the suspect may have gained entry through an unlocked window.


The suspect is described as a Black male, approximately 25-30 years old, tall and thin, with hair twists. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and shorts.

Anyone with additional information or comes into contact with this individual, is asked to contact Montgomery County Police – SVID at 240-773-5400.
