Union Township Police Department to Host Child Gun Safety Class

UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Union Township Police Department is hosting its annual Child Gun Safety Class this weekend.

Union Township Police Department is excited to host its 8th annual Child Gun Safety class on Saturday, May 7, 2022 in the Queen City Room of the Union Township Civic Center. There will be two consecutive classes starting at 10am and 12pm respectively.


This class is free to the public. To register for either class contact Officer Chad Lutson at clutson@union-township.oh.us. Children must be 6 to 12 years old and be accompanied by a parent or guardian. There will be no live firing of any guns during this course and no firearms are permitted in the building except for those brought by the instructor.

Topics to be presented include the safe handling of a firearm, nomenclature of handguns and long guns and the dangers of handling guns in general. Officer Lutson is certified through the state of Ohio as both a trained and registered Armorer and Firearms Instructor and brings 24 years of experience in law enforcement. Refreshments will be provided to all attendees.
