PEMBERTON TOWNSHIP, NJ – The Pemberton Township Police Department assisted the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshal’s Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force to raid a home on Burrs Mill Road last week.

Today, Chief Jay Watters announced the details of that operation. A 75-year-old woman and 35-year-old man were arrested in the riad.

They have been identified as Al Elk Jr. and Theresa Gerke, both of Pemberton.

“On March 3rd, at 6:27 am the Pemberton Township Police Department executed an arrest warrant at a residence located on Burrs Mill Road in Pemberton. In addition to the arrest warrant, a search warrant for the residence was authorized by the Superior Court,” Chief Watters said. “During the search, a significant amount of marijuana packaged in vacuum-sealed packages and glass jars, THC vape cartridges and marijuana edibles packaged for resale were located.”

Chief Watters said the weight of the marijuana was estimated to be in excess of 200 pounds.

“Additionally seized were Psilocybin mushrooms and Heroin, both in a quantity indicating distribution. As a result of this investigation, U.S. currency along with four vehicles were seized pending the civil forfeiture process. Elk, Sr., Elk, Jr. and Gerke were arrested and transported to the police station where they were each charged with the Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (CDS) (Marijuana), Distribution of CDS (Heroin), Distribution of CDS (Psilocybin mushrooms) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Elk, Jr. and Gerke were processed and served with a complaint-summons before being released from custody. Elk, Sr. was served with a complaint-warrant and lodged in the Burlington County Jail,” a statement from Chief Watters said.
