4 Charged in 24 Count Indictment Announced in Atlantic City Shooting

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – Four people have been charged for a coordinated and planned shooting of a 22-year-old in Atlantic City last August.

Police today announced Armaad Brooks-Chappell, 20; Adresce Jones, 19; Beatrice Chappel, 35; and Faheem Harris, 21; all of Atlantic City were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and other various assault and firearms charges.

On August 10, four Atlantic City residents were indicted on a 24-count indictment stemming from a shooting/attempted murder that occurred in Atlantic City on August 12, 2021, in the area of 1600 Sewell Avenue. The investigation revealed that on August 12, 2021, Armaad Brooks-Chappell, Adresce Jones, and a juvenile male co-conspirator, utilized a stolen vehicle and multiple firearms to coordinate a planned attack on the 22-year-old victim, M.B., also of Atlantic City.


The defendants ambushed M.B., who was walking on the sidewalk and opened fire. M.B. was struck multiple times by gunfire, including in the face and shoulder. The investigation later determined that the motive for the attack was gang retaliation. Defendants Beatrice Chappell, the mother of Armaad Brooks-Chappell, and Faheem Harris, conspired with Armaad Brooks-Chappell to commit the crime of witness tampering of the victim.
