Democrat Andy Kim wins New Jersey swing race showing he has staying power in Congress

Democrat Congressman Andy Kim, a former Barack Obama disciple, has proven this week that he might be in Congres to stay after defeating Republican challenger Bob Healy in what was considered a national swing race for power in Congress.

The former left-wing firebrand has mellowed since his days of calling to overthrow the Trump administration in 2016 when he headed the liberal activist group Rise Stronger.

On Tuesday, Kim defeated Healey in the newly redrawn third congressional district 54.9% to 44.2%.

Since being elected, Kim has presented himself as a moderate Democrat focused on veterans and quality of life issues in the third district. while he hasn’t abandoned his affiliation to D.C.’s radical left, he has put space between himself and other far-left members of Congress since taking office.

Kim will return to Congress in January as a member of the minority party.
