PHILADELPHIA, PA – Crime is getting out of control in Philadelphia and nobody in the city is safe anymore, even City Hall. On Thursday, a brazen thief walked up to city hall with a shopping cart and began dismantling a decorative bronze railing that featured lion heads and a bust of William Penn.

He loaded up his shopping cart with about $20,000 worth of historical fencing that adorned city hall for over 100 years.

Detectives with the Philadelphia Police Department’s Central Detective Division are seeking the public’s help in identifying the individual seen in a video surveillance clip released this week.

According to police, on December 8, at approximately 6:25 am, an unknown white male was captured on surveillance video taking a section of railing that surrounds City Hall. The suspect then left the area pushing a red shopping cart.
