Loaded Handguns Seized and Arrests Made Following Schenectady Traffic Stop

SCHENECTADY, NY – In a routine traffic stop that took an unexpected turn, Schenectady Police officers arrested two individuals yesterday, around 10:07 pm, near the intersection of Albany Street and Steuben Street. Officers discovered that one of the vehicle’s occupants, Nahiem L. Walden, an 18-year-old Albany resident, had intentionally provided a false name during the stop.

Upon conducting a search, Walden was found to be in possession of a loaded 9mm handgun with a 31-round magazine. He now faces several charges, including Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Third Degree, False Personation, and two New York State Vehicle and Traffic Violations.

During the traffic stop, a second passenger, who remains unidentified as they are a juvenile, attempted to flee on foot. However, officers quickly apprehended the suspect, who was also discovered to be in possession of another loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine. This individual has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree and Resisting Arrest.


The Schenectady Police Department is actively investigating the case, and further information will be released as it becomes available.
