UPPER MARLBORO, MD – An Upper Marlboro man won $300,000 by using numbers associated with his late mother’s birth and death dates to play Pick 5. The winner, who usually buys several Pick 5 tickets, used his combination of 85420 for six $1 straight bets.

He bought the tickets at Dash In #15521 in Upper Marlboro, and was the only person to win the grand prize on March 28.

Two others won $50,000 each, and a third won $25,000, all on straight bet tickets.

The winner plans to use the money to prevent a foreclosure on a family member’s home and fly his family to Florida for his daughter’s graduation. The lucky retailer will receive a $3,000 bonus for selling the tickets.
