Man Charged with Attempted Murder of NYPD Officer in Queens

QUEENS, NY – Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz announced yesterday that Devin Spraggins, 22, of Jamaica, has been arraigned on two counts of attempted murder in connection to a confrontation with NYPD officers on Wednesday. Rookie Officer Brett Boller was shot during the incident.

Spraggins faces 40 years to life in prison for each of the attempted murder charges if convicted. The incident occurred on April 5 when Spraggins got into a fight on an MTA bus. Officers Boller and Anthony Rock were flagged down for assistance. Spraggins fled, leading to a chase that ended with Officer Boller being shot. Spraggins was later arrested in the Bronx.

Officer Boller, 22, is recovering from his injuries at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. Officer Rock, also 22, was not injured during the incident. The case is being prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Career Criminal Major Crimes Bureau.
