Teen arrested after gun found at East Brooklyn Community High School

Brooklyn, NY – A 17-year-old student was arrested Monday after being found with a 9mm handgun inside East Brooklyn Community High School, authorities confirmed.

The incident occurred at the school located at 9517 Kings Highway. Police responded after receiving a report of a student possibly in possession of a firearm. Officers recovered the handgun and took the teen into custody without incident. No shots were fired, and no one was injured.

Officials described the case as a non-shooting incident but confirmed it occurred on school property during regular hours. Investigators said the weapon was a 9mm handgun and that the suspect, who is legally prohibited from possessing a firearm, is facing multiple charges related to illegal gun possession on school grounds.

School staff cooperated fully with responding officers, and the building was declared safe shortly after the arrest. The student’s name has not been released due to his age.

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine how the teen obtained the gun and whether it had been brought to school previously.
