BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect accused of violently assaulting a 76-year-old man after a minor traffic incident Saturday evening in Brooklyn.

According to police, the incident occurred at approximately 5 p.m. on the northwest corner of Midwood Street and Nostrand Avenue.

Investigators said the elderly victim was involved in a minor motor vehicle collision with a parked and unoccupied motorized scooter when an unidentified individual approached and initiated a verbal dispute.

Victim repeatedly punched and kicked

Police said the confrontation quickly turned violent when the suspect allegedly punched and kicked the 76-year-old victim multiple times throughout his body.

After the assault, investigators said the suspect fled the scene on the motorized scooter, traveling westbound on Midwood Street.

Authorities have not released information regarding the victim’s condition or a description of the suspect.
