NYPD hunts suspect who fled on foot after targeting elderly woman
QUEENS, NY – An 81-year-old woman was walking along a Queens street Thursday night when a stranger approached her and ripped a necklace from her neck before running off, according to the NYPD, which is now seeking the public’s help identifying the suspect.
The grand larceny occurred at approximately 8 p.m. in the vicinity of 33-22 29th Street, according to NYPD Crime Stoppers.
Police said an unidentified individual approached the woman while she was walking and snatched the necklace directly from her neck.
The necklace was valued at approximately $500.
Suspect runs from scene
After taking the jewelry, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction, police said.
The NYPD did not report that the 81-year-old woman suffered any injuries during the incident.
No arrest had been announced in the Crime Stoppers alert, and police are seeking information that could help identify the person responsible.
