Police say the vehicle failed to yield before the deadly Galloway collision
GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ – A motorcycle rider was killed Friday night after a vehicle pulled from a driveway onto the White Horse Pike and failed to yield to the approaching motorcycle, triggering a collision that threw the rider from the bike, according to Galloway Township Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:46 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Route 30, also known as the White Horse Pike, and South Odessa Avenue.
Police said the motorcycle was traveling westbound when the other vehicle exited a driveway and entered the roadway.
Rider ejected in collision
The motorcycle struck the vehicle, ejecting its rider and causing serious injuries, according to police.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead from those injuries. Police did not release the rider’s identity in the initial report.
The driver and a passenger in the other vehicle were not injured.
Conditions at the time were clear, with a temperature of 75 degrees and a dry roadway, police reported.
White Horse Pike closed for hours
The collision prompted an extended investigation at the scene, closing the roadway for approximately three hours.
The cause and circumstances remain under investigation by the Galloway Township Police Department Traffic Unit.
