Police say a late-night disturbance left three victims hospitalized and a 38-year-old man facing attempted murder charges

GLEN BURNIE, MD – Three people were stabbed inside a Glen Burnie home during a late-night disturbance Sunday before officers used Tasers to subdue a man who police say was behaving erratically and now faces multiple attempted murder charges.

Anne Arundel County Police responded at approximately 10:25 p.m. Sunday to the 400 block of Morningside Drive following a report of a physical disturbance.

Three stabbing victims found inside

Officers encountered an adult male suspect inside the residence and described his behavior as erratic.

Police also discovered three people suffering from stab wounds.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the confrontation before ultimately deploying Tasers to take the suspect into custody safely, according to the department.

Emergency medical personnel transported all three stabbing victims to an area hospital.

Police said the victims were in stable condition.

Suspect identified after arrest

In an update Tuesday, police identified the arrested man as Ryan David Matthews, 38, of Glen Burnie.

Matthews faces three counts each of attempted first-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder.

He was also charged with three counts of first-degree assault, five counts of second-degree assault and three counts of reckless endangerment.

Police said Matthews faces additional weapons charges but did not specify those counts in the update.

Authorities did not release information about what allegedly led to the disturbance or disclose the relationships between Matthews and the three victims.

The charges are accusations, and Matthews is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
