WESTMINSTER, MD – A daily lottery player from Westminster has won big after switching up his usual routine and trying a new crossword-themed scratch-off game. The 65-year-old purchased two Deluxe Crossword scratch-offs and hit the jackpot, winning a $50,000 top prize.
The lucky winner, who favors bingo-themed scratch-offs, was at home when he scratched off the $5 Deluxe Crossword game and was in disbelief when he saw that he had won his largest score ever.
“I really didn’t believe it, I was in shock,” he recalled.
After texting his family group chat with the news and receiving their suggestions, the Carroll County resident visited a Lottery retailer to scan the scratch-off and confirm his win.
The player, who works in the music retail field, plans to save his winnings for his upcoming retirement. He expressed that his lottery luck couldn’t have come at a better time.
The winning scratch-off was purchased at Royal Farms #062, located at 1818 Baltimore Boulevard in Westminster. The Carroll County retailer will receive a $500 bonus from the Lottery for selling a top-prize winning scratch-off of $50,000.
