Driver critical after shooting, taken to hospital by crash victim

CHICAGO, IL – A shooting incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the Fernwood section on Halsted Street, leaving a 32-year-old man injured.

According to the police, the victim was inside a Honda in the 10200 block of South Halsted Street at around 4:40 p.m. when another vehicle pulled up, and someone inside shot him.

The victim sustained gunshot wounds to the abdomen and suffered a graze wound to the head. After being shot, he lost control of his car and collided with a Ford Fusion driven by another man, according to police.


The driver of the Ford Fusion took it upon himself to drive both himself and the gunshot victim to Roseland Community Hospital, where the victim was in critical condition. The hospital later transferred him to the University of Chicago Medical Center.

At this time, the motives and circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, and the shooter is still at large.
