Teen Charged in Fatal Car Crash in Freehold Township

FREEHOLD, NJ – A teenage boy, 17 at the time of the incident, has been charged in connection with a single-vehicle collision resulting in two fatalities and two injuries. The crash occurred on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, around 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 9.

Investigators from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and the Freehold Township Police Department discovered that the defendant was driving at excessive speeds and swerving between lanes before losing control of the vehicle, resulting in the fatal crash.

The defendant, whose identity remains confidential due to his age, faces two counts of second-degree Vehicular Homicide and two counts of Assault.
