CLIFTON, NJ – Early Monday morning, chaos ensued as a prisoner managed to escape custody while being transported to the Passaic County Jail. The incident occurred around 4 AM in the sally port, catching officers off guard and allowing the prisoner to flee.

Following the escape, Clifton Police Department officers immediately embarked on a pursuit through the streets of Paterson, New Jersey. Eventually, a perimeter was established in the area of Grand and Mill Streets, where officers conducted an extensive yard-to-yard search that persisted for several hours. Despite their relentless efforts, the fugitive, identified as 20-year-old Isaiah Felix from Passaic, NJ, eluded capture before the perimeter was eventually lifted.

Felix’s escape came shortly after his arrest on Sunday, in Clifton, where he faced charges stemming from a burglary and the kidnapping of a family member. Authorities believe he may have ties to the Richfield Village apartments on St. Andrews Blvd in Clifton, as well as multiple addresses in Passaic.

Law enforcement agencies are now urging the public’s assistance in locating Felix. Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Clifton Police Department at 973-470-5911. Callers can provide information anonymously.

At the time of his escape, Felix was reportedly wearing bright yellow “Crocs” footwear.
