Convicted Felon Arrested for Possession of Stolen Firearm and Drugs Following Traffic Violation

Port St. Lucie, FL – Sylvester McGlothurn, a 38-year-old resident, experienced a turn of events that could potentially impede his freedom for the foreseeable future. It all began when he received a traffic citation for running a red light, but little did he know that his hurried decision at the intersection would lead to significant legal troubles.

Upon returning from a trip to Georgia, where he claimed to have purchased a rifle for $400 from an unidentified individual, McGlothurn’s run-in with the law took a detrimental turn. A deputy stopped him and noticed the rifle visibly placed inside his vehicle, not far from a backpack that McGlothurn admitted contained cocaine. However, the discoveries did not end there. Within close proximity to the drug-filled bag, another firearm was found. McGlothurn, a previously convicted felon, insisted that he had purchased the gun directly. Unfortunately for him, the news only worsened. It was revealed that the firearm he claimed to have obtained from an unknown person in Georgia was reported stolen in the Peach State.

As a result, Sylvester McGlothurn was promptly arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, grand theft of a firearm, and possession of a controlled substance. He was subsequently booked into the Martin County Jail. While McGlothurn’s day initially took a downturn with a mere traffic ticket for running a red light, the subsequent discoveries and legal implications have undoubtedly compounded his troubles.
