Newark police seekng theft suspect

NEWARK, NJ –The Newark Public Safety Director, Fritz Fragé, called for the public’s help in identifying a suspected thief. The suspect was caught on surveillance footage stealing a purse, containing $900, from a local grocery store on the morning of Thursday.

The incident took place at approximately 9:20 am in the store, located in the 60 block of Goble Street. After asking an employee for cigarettes, the suspect seized the opportunity to steal a purse from the counter as the employee turned away. The suspect then proceeded to leave the store, heading north on Goble Street.
