Retired unlucky fisherman wins $100k on lottery scratch off ticket

Baltimore, MD – A retired Timonium resident, nicknamed the “Unlucky Fisherman,” recently experienced a stroke of luck playing the Maryland Lottery. The player claimed a $100,000 prize on the $10 In the Money scratch-off, which he purchased over a month ago.

Although now residing in lower Delaware, the Unlucky Fisherman still maintains strong ties to the Baltimore area, including his doctors. During a recent trip to Maryland for doctor, dentist, and haircut appointments, he visited Ridgely Liquors in Lutherville, where he used to purchase Lottery games before moving out of state. On this particular visit, he bought several tickets, one of which turned out to be the winning $100,000 scratch-off.

Busy enjoying his retirement, the Unlucky Fisherman postponed claiming his prize as he and his wife had a planned vacation trip. Upon their return, he visited Lottery headquarters in Baltimore to collect his winnings.

An avid angler, the Unlucky Fisherman has numerous fish stories to share. One notable tale involves catching a 25-pound rockfish in the Chesapeake Bay near Hart-Miller Island. Unfortunately, the fish was out of season and had to be released, leaving him with just a memorable story. Since retiring, he has spent many hours in his boat fishing for rockfish and bluefish, but without much success. Instead, he has caught rays, skates, flounder, and other fish. His nickname reflects his lack of success in catching Maryland’s official state gamefish.

Regarding his plans for the prize money, the Unlucky Fisherman has not yet decided. He is already retired, owns a boat, and frequently travels to enjoyable destinations.

In recognition of selling the top-prize winning scratch-off, Ridgely Liquors in Timonium will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery, equal to 1% of the prize amount.
