Walkersville Mother Hits $50k Jackpot on Lottery Ticket

Walkersville, MD – A mother of four from Walkersville experienced a life-changing moment when she won $50,000 playing the Maryland Lottery’s $50,000 Cash scratch-off game. Although she typically plays scratch-off tickets for entertainment, her recent win left her in disbelief and prompted her to take a break until her luck replenishes.

Expressing her love for scratch-off tickets, she stated, “I like my scratch-offs,” while claiming her prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore on July 13.

As a busy mother with four children, she finds enjoyment in playing scratch-off tickets, considering it a form of entertainment amidst her work responsibilities.

On a recent morning, while on her way to work, she decided to make a stop at the Sheetz #210 located at 8408 Woodsboro Pike in Walkersville to grab a cup of coffee. Before leaving, a sudden feeling prompted her to purchase a scratch-off ticket. She chose the $50,000 Cash game and scratched it right inside the store.

The sight before her was unbelievable. Overwhelmed with excitement, she immediately took photos of the ticket using her phone.

“When she called me, she couldn’t catch her breath because she was so thrilled,” shared her mother, who accompanied her to Lottery headquarters.

Instead of going to work, she decided to go home and hide the ticket. Throughout her workday, she would take breaks and gaze at the pictures of the ticket on her phone, still unable to fully comprehend her win.

After finishing her shift, she scanned the ticket using the Maryland Lottery app’s ticket check function, confirming that she was indeed a big winner.

“I still can’t believe it,” she expressed after claiming her prize.

The following evening, she purchased another ticket and won $500. Taking it as a sign, she decided to stop playing, believing that she had used up all her luck.

The fortunate winner intends to use the winnings primarily for the benefit of her children. She plans to take them on a vacation and allocate funds for back-to-school shopping. The remaining amount will be saved for expenses related to athletics charges, school dances, and other activities.

At the time of her claim, she had yet to purchase any new Lottery tickets, as she was waiting for her luck to replenish. However, her mother confidently stated that the winner will undoubtedly return to playing soon.

The Sheetz store, where she purchased the winning ticket, will receive a bonus of $500, equivalent to 1% of the prize, for selling a top-tier winning scratch-off.
