Annapolis, Maryland – A retired federal worker from Anne Arundel County experienced a stroke of luck during a routine visit to a gas station. The 84-year-old Annapolis resident purchased a Hot 777 instant ticket, and to his amazement, he ended up with the game’s second-tier prize of $50,000.
Sharing his strategy for choosing tickets, the loyal player stated, “I always look for the newer games when deciding which ticket to buy. If I win once in a while, I stick with it until a newer game catches my eye.” On a recent visit to Millersville Crown located at 8210 Veterans Highway, he spotted his preferred instant ticket, which had arrived on the retailer’s shelves in April, and took it home to play. “Hot 777 has been pretty lucky for me these last few months,” he mentioned.
Back home with his wife, the fortunate retiree scratched his instant ticket and was taken aback by the incredible news. “I’m not sure who was more stunned, my wife or me. Neither of us could believe it.” After the initial shock subsided, the couple’s first thoughts were about the positive impact the $50,000 prize could have on their family members and a local charity close to their hearts. “We have a few things we need, but most of this will be shared with people who are in need.”
Hot 777 made its debut with six $1 million top prizes, four of which are still in circulation. Additionally, five out of its eight $50,000 second-tier prizes are yet to be claimed. As a member of the “Hot” family of games, Hot 777 was launched in April, and its popularity led to the subsequent release of other scratch-offs like the $1 Hot 7s, $2 Hot 7s Doubler, $3 Red Hot Cash, $5 Hot 7s Tripler, and $10 Hot 7s Multiplier on May 22.
