Clinton Woman Wins $65k After Following Advice of Other Lottery Players

Clinton, MD – A Clinton resident, who switched to playing Racetrax from other Maryland Lottery games a few months ago, found herself celebrating a significant win on July 3. The fortunate player, who prefers to place small bets on long-odds horses, hit the jackpot with a 10-cent Superfecta Box bet on horses 9, 10, 11, and 12 for a single race, resulting in a prize of $65,024.80.

Speaking to reporters while claiming her prize at Lottery headquarters on July 20, the delighted winner expressed her fondness for Racetrax, citing that she has had more frequent wins compared to other number games. In addition to her recent substantial prize, she has also won smaller amounts in the four-digit range in the past.

The Clinton resident explained that she initially considered placing a straight bet on the horses, which could have potentially led to a massive payout of around $650,000. However, in the excitement of the moment, she opted for a boxed bet. This decision proved to be a fortunate one, as the horses finished in the exact reverse order of her selection. By playing boxed, she secured a five-digit win instead of ending up with another non-winning ticket.

“It was my time!” the player exclaimed happily.

With her newfound winnings, the lucky winner intends to cover personal expenses and treat herself to something special. Beyond that, she has no elaborate plans for the money.

Looking ahead, the Clinton resident plans to continue playing Racetrax at the Clinton Citgo station located at 9100 Piscataway Road in Clinton. The station has become a preferred spot for Racetrax enthusiasts due to its pleasant ambiance, where players can gather and enjoy watching the animated horse races. Additionally, the location attracts a friendly and cordial crowd of fellow Lottery enthusiasts, making the gaming experience even more enjoyable for players.

As a token of appreciation, the Maryland Lottery will award the Clinton Citgo station a bonus of $650.24, which equals 1% of the prize amount, for selling a winning Racetrax ticket worth $10,000 or more.
