UPPER MERION TOWNSHIP, PA – Last Thursday evening, detectives from the Special Investigations Unit were probing a stolen vehicle at the Bahama Breeze parking lot, located at 320 Goddard Boulevard.

Assisting them was the Patrol Division. As the investigation progressed, a male and female were seen exiting the restaurant, approaching the stolen car. Upon noticing the police, they attempted to flee.

The male individual, identified as Khalif Ward, 26, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was later detained near the restaurant. He had an ignition key for the stolen vehicle. In the process of evading the police, Ward discarded a loaded .40 caliber handgun inside the restaurant, which was later recovered by the police.

Besides the ongoing investigation’s charges, Khalif Ward also has an arrest warrant from the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office for Violations of the Uniformed Firearms Act.

The Upper Merion Township Police Department thanked the Bahama Breeze employees for their cooperation. They asked anyone with additional information to reach out at 610-265-3232.
