Montgomery County Police Department Mourns Loss of Veteran Sergeant Gregory Jordan

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police is grieving the sudden loss of Sergeant Gregory Jordan, who passed away at his home on September 9. The 30-year veteran was a fixture in the department and the broader Montgomery County community.

Sergeant Jordan initially joined the force in 1992, starting his career in the Major Crimes Division. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013 and was most recently serving in the 3rd District station, focusing on community policing in the White Oak neighborhood.

Chief Marcus Jones expressed the department’s grief, stating, “This is an incredible loss for our department, the Montgomery County community, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Sergeant Jordan.” Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days to allow the community to pay respects and honor his legacy.


County Executive Marc Elrich also paid tribute, mentioning, “Today we lost a true public servant, Sergeant Gregory Jordan, who dedicated thirty years of his life to serving and protecting the people of Montgomery County.”

Sergeant Jordan leaves behind a lasting legacy of service that will be honored and remembered by the department and the community he served.
