Shooting At Utica High School Football Game Leaves Security Guard Injured

UTICA, NY – An altercation that erupted in the parking lot of Proctor High School following a varsity football game resulted in the shooting of a school security staff member, who is currently in critical but stable condition. The incident occurred on September 9, shortly after the game between Proctor High School and Binghamton High School concluded.

At least two members of the Utica City School District Security staff intervened in an attempt to break up the fight. During this intervention, at least two gunshots were fired, one hitting a security staff member in the back of the head. The injured staff member, whose name is not being released at this time, is currently at a local Utica hospital. The community is offering prayers for his full recovery.

The Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit is leading the investigation, which includes reviewing surveillance and social media footage to identify suspects and gather further information.
