Arrest Made in Connection to August Harlem Shooting

NEW YORK CITY – Authorities have arrested 33-year-old Hector West of the Bronx on Thursday, October 12, at approximately 1:25 p.m.

West is charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

The charges are linked to a fatal incident that occurred on Friday, August 11 at, around 11:28 p.m. Police had responded to a 911 call reporting a male shot in front of 303 West 128 Street in Harlem. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 29-year-old male, identified as Jacob Franco of Brooklyn, with a gunshot wound to the chest. Franco was found lying on the ground in front of 301 West 128 Street.


Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported Franco to NYC Health & Hospitals/Harlem, where he was pronounced dead. At the time, there were no arrests, and the investigation had been described as “ongoing.”

The arrest of West comes two months after the fatal shooting, marking a significant turn in the investigation.

As of now, Hector West awaits formal charges and a court appearance.
