St. Petersburg, FL – You might want to think twice next time you ask your inconsiderate neighbor to clean up after their dog relieved itself on your lawn.

In St. Petersburg, Florida, a 28-year-old woman is facing felony charges after an altercation with her 76-year-old neighbor escalated into her smearing dog feces on the man’s face. Kali Robertson was walking her dog in her mobile home lot around 8:30 a.m. on Sunday when the argument broke out, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Smoking Gun website.

The police report indicates that the elderly man had often spoken to Robertson while she walked her dog, but during this particular encounter, the man reportedly said something that provoked Robertson. In response, she grabbed an “unsecured bag of dog feces” and shoved it across the man’s face, leaving feces smeared on his visage, as the criminal complaint alleges.

Robertson left the scene by tossing the bag on the ground and walking away. She later admitted to the act after police matched the doggie bag to similar bags in her possession, further solidifying the case against her.

Robertson has been charged with battery of a person over the age of 65, which is considered a third-degree felony in the state of Florida. She has pleaded not guilty to the charge. The incident shines a spotlight on the tensions that can erupt in close-knit communities, and raises questions about the appropriate legal ramifications for such extreme actions.
